I did a little digging on the Washington Post, the Chicago Tribune, and the Daily Mail so that you can answer the age old question: which presidential candidate eats most like you do? You may have trouble swallowing the fact that Hillary or Trump is going to be the next President of the US, but do you swallow some of their favorite foods on the regular? Hang in there, the answer is only a couple of questions away.
The answer is:
Hillary Clinton
"Cheat days" are not in your vocabulary...and if you do have them, you keep them secret from everyone (maybe you send food porn to your friends with your secret email account...?) You have a strict diet that you follow in order to maintain that bikini/election-ready bod. One time Hillary was offered an entire spread of pulled pork and beans at the Whole Hog Cafe in Little Rock, and all she ate was a single tomato. People may criticize you for your slightly anal regimented diet, but you know what? You've got discipline and insane willpower and the prize is in sight. And you do keep up with the food trends, trying out everything from low-carb to low-fat. Back in the day you treated yourself to mocha ice cream bars, but now your greatest indulgence is hot peppers. Just make sure you leave room for a small splurge once in a while? Maybe after the campaign is over?
The answer is:
Bernie Sanders
I know, I know. He's not in the running anymore, but he still deserves a place in this quiz. Anyway, you're most like Bernie! To you, food is about the people you're dining with. Whether it's Sylvia's in Harlem with activist Al Sharpton, or a meal with his kids featuring their homemade "feel the Bern salsa," Bernie treasures meal time. You don't mind chains like Friendly's and Denny's and even find them as appropriate places for life changing moments (i.e. Bernie proposed to his wife Jane Sanders at Friendly's and she agreed to his presidential candidacy at Denny's). That being said, like Bernie, you care where you food comes from: you have a share at your local CSA and make sure (if you eat meat at all) that local meat is always on hand. And everything must be Non-GMO certified and grown by workers who were treated fairly, obviously. Bernie introduced legislation about GMO transparency to the Senate, and he also coordinated a Senate hearing for Immokalee tomato farm workers who were not being paid enough to survive and also for a slave worker operation in Florida. It must be noted -- while you know that consumption of salmon should be limited due to declining wild populations, you have a soft spot for bagels and lox. With salmon farmed with environment-friendly polycultures, of course.
The answer is:
Donald Trump
Hey, don't worry. Though what you put into your mouth is similar to what Trump does, chances are what comes out isn't as concerning. The whole local, organic, sustainable food movement is moving outside of your vision. You like your food fast, clean, and mass produced. Dinner is the meal when you go hard with lots of carbs and meat -- meat cooked so well it will "rock on the plate." You are probably either super down to earth or completely oblivious to the problems of the world, power hungry, aand slightly orange? Um, you do you. Just maybe consider reading up on the problems of the food industry, the meat industry especially. And while you're at it, just read up on a lot of other stuff too :)
The answer is:
Jill Stein
You are always trying to make choices that are best for you and for the earth. Like Stein, you follow a mostly organic diet full of plant-based protein, whole grains, and fruits and veggies. You are the health conscious one of your friend group who keeps everyone in line, and you might even be a nutrition major (or pre-med). We all need someone like you to look out for our health.
The answer is:
Gary Johnson
You love fitness, and you live a relatively healthy lifestyle. You may even slightly resemble Harrison Ford? Anyway you either have Celiac Disease or you think that you're gluten intolerant, and you stick to a gluten free diet. Like Bernie, Harrison Ford...I mean Gary Johnson advocates for GMO labeling, which is a unique position for someone who wants to keep government control to a minimum. He thinks people should know what's in their food, and you probably do too.
