Flying commercial airlines can be ultra stressful. You often have to pack your whole life into a small carry-on and tote bag, then you have to arrive at the airport hours before the actual flight, and of course, you must come face-to-face with the TSA gauntlet. Here, many are required to take off their shoes, take their laptops out of their duffel bags, and if you're me, you have to be pulled aside so they can closely examine your Dolly Parton cake mix to make sure it's not illicit, and in fact, coconut cake powder. While these are all safety measures put in place for our benefit, there are some unique TSA rules that go well beyond just having three-ounce toiletry bottles and making sure your water bottle is empty before the checkpoint. When it comes to transporting your pets that aren't able to be contained in a normal kennel, you can actually use your water bottle to transport your pet fish.

How can I fly with my pet fish in my water bottle?

The official TSA Instagram account recently shared a video documenting how you can carry your beloved betta, goldfish, or guppy onto an airplane.

You can place your fish in any clear container, including your YETI water bottle. According to the TSA website, "Live fish in water and a clear transparent container are allowed after inspection by the TSA officer."

So, if you don't have a clear bottle, you can even opt for your best clear Pyrex dish with a lid. Your fish deserves to ride in style, right?

Either way, if you are transporting your fish in any clear container on the flight, you'll definitely want to limit your movements as much as possible for a safe ride for your bubbly little friend.

What other food tips does the TSA have?

Basically, if you're not following the TSA Instagram account, you're missing out on some fascinating and funny content. Turns out, you can bring a cucumber on the plane and save yourself that $11 on airport water with this hydration hack.

Additionally, you are absolutely allowed to fill a whole carry-on or checked bag with fried chicken. One flyer shared how their parents filled an entire bag with Popeyes chicken. Frankly, I get it. If you don't have a location near your home, you must do what is necessary.

Have you ever been heading to a birthday party and wanted to bring a cake from your hometown? You totally can! You can truly send a whole baked, iced, and candy-coated cake through TSA.
