If you've ever had a Tim Tam, you know you can't resist the flakey goodness of chocolatey cookies sandwiched atop a delightful chocolate butter cream, brought together with a chocolate coating
If you haven't had this Australian-style Oreo, then just trust us, you NEED to give it a shot.
DIY Tim Tams

- For the coating:
- 10 oz chocolate milk white or dark
- 1 tablespoon coconut oil
- For the filling:
- 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
- 1 tablespoon malted drink powder Ovaltine
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon dark Dutch cocoa powder
- For the cookie:
- A dash salt
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- 1 egg room temperature
- 1/3 cup dark Dutch cocoa powder
- 1 cup unsalted butter room temperature
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
Ingredients

Step 1
In a large mixing bowl or stand mixer, mix butter and sugar until light and fluffy.

Add egg and mix until color is consistent.

Add cocoa powder and mix well.

Add flour and salt and mix again.

Spread dough onto parchment paper lined cookie sheet, about 1/4 inch thick. Layer another sheet of parchment paper and put in freezer for 30 minutes.

Cut chilled dough into small rectangles, about 1 ¼ inches by 2 ½ inches. Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F.

While cookies are baking, prepare filling. Mix butter until light and fluffy.

While mixing, add cocoa powder.

Add in powdered sugar in small sections.

Add chocolate malted milk powder and mix well.

Bag filling in a plastic bag and cut the tip off to create a piping bag. Pipe three lines of filling onto a baked cookie and sandwich that with another cookie. Repeat.

Microwave chocolate chips and coconut oil in 20 second intervals until melted.

Dip the sandwiched cookies into the melted chocolate so they are evenly coated.
